Washington Avenue BID Presents Mac’s Club Deuce’s Centennial Celebration
The Washington Avenue Business Improvement District brought a century of history to life with Mac’s Club Deuce’s Centennial Celebration—a jam packed block party honoring the people, memories, and neighborhood spirit that make Miami Beach extraordinary.
On 14th Street, between Washington and Collins Avenues, old friends reunited and strangers became friends. There was laughter, music, happy tears, and memories that suddenly felt like yesterday. For a few unforgettable hours, we were part of something bigger than ourselves—a moment we would someday describe by saying, “I was there.”
Even the rain seemed to understand the assignment. It fell just long enough to cool the crowd without quieting the music or washing away the excitement.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami Beach Commissioners Monica Matteo-Salinas and Laura Dominguez honored the occasion with proclamations. Their smiles and enthusiasm helped set the tone for the evening. Special appreciation also goes to Commissioner Tanya Bhatt for helping recognize the City of Miami Beach historic milestone proclamation.
From actor Cuba Gooding Jr. to longtime regulars—and even a few familiar faces who’d been “86’d” over the years—everyone was part of the family that night. Everyone was a star.
Large portraits of Mac and Mary Klein, alongside familiar faces such as Frank Sinatra, John Travolta, Don Johnson, and Anthony Bourdain, surrounded the celebration with reminders of its history. For newcomers, they introduced a legacy. For longtime patrons, they brought back stories.
Then there was the music.
It brought chills and kept people dancing. Sponsors who normally compete for the same audience danced beside one another. Even a few police officers could not resist moving to the rhythm.
More than 1,500 people rotated through the celebration, with the excitement extending beyond the block to Mickey Burkes, where guests continued enjoying live music.

Miami Beach has faced significant challenges over the past several years. There is still work ahead, but this evening gave us something worth building on. Bringing people to Washington Avenue, connecting them with our businesses, and giving them a reason to return are central to the BID’s work.
An evening like this takes planning, patience, and people willing to work through every detail. Heartfelt thanks go to Christie, Sharon, Ali, Tony, Chris, Gigi, and the entire organizing team. You should be proud of what you helped create.
