As part of our unwavering commitment to sustainability and community engagement, Washington Avenue BID is thrilled to collaborate with The Eco Channel's Earth Week Miami, taking place in Miami Beach. This vibrant series of events, starting Friday, April 24th-26th, promises to blend our rich architectural heritage with forward-looking environmental initiatives, highlighting the importance of resilience in our beloved city.
The festivities begin on Friday at 10 AM with an Art Deco & Sustainability Tour on Washington Avenue, hosted by the esteemed historian George Neary from Tours "R" Us. Starting at the historic Wolfsonian Museum, this tour will connect our architectural legacy with sustainable practices, showcasing how our past can inform a more resilient future. Washington Avenue has long been a beacon of history and culture, and this tour underscores its role as a leader in sustainable urban development.
Later Friday, the event continues at Mango's Tropical Cafe for the Earth Week Miami Celebration Party 6-9 pm, a lively evening dedicated to raising environmental awareness and
fostering community spirit. This event marks the launch of The Runa Ray Student Sargassum Project, an innovative initiative in collaboration with students from DASH under the guidance of
designer and environmental advocate Runa Ray, using a new biomaterial made from sargassum called Kelptex. The event is also celebrating the birthday of George Neary, whose contributions to Miami Beach are cherished by all.
On Saturday, April 25th, Earth Week Miami features the inaugural activation of REEFLINE with Divers Paradise called “Dive with Pride” and sponsored by The ECO Channel, The City of
